Climate solutions startup CarbonEthics has raised US$2.1 million in a seed funding round led by Intudo Ventures, the company announced on Wednesday. The Indonesia-based firm plans to use the funds to expand its portfolio of carbon projects, secure additional environmental initiatives, and recruit top-tier technical experts to enhance its offerings.
Founded in 2019, CarbonEthics initially focused on blue carbon ecosystems before broadening its scope to include peatland and green ecosystems. The startup now provides a range of technology-driven solutions aimed at helping organizations meet their climate goals, restore natural habitats, and create positive social impacts. These include nature-based carbon projects that emphasize ecosystem restoration, biodiversity protection, and the improvement of livelihoods for local communities.
The company has ambitious plans to manage the restoration of 8 million hectares of land and deliver over 160 million tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent impact by 2030. Additionally, CarbonEthics aims to create sustainable economic opportunities for local communities while contributing to the preservation of biodiversity.
CarbonEthics’ services extend beyond project development, offering carbon consultancy services that assist clients in meeting environmental, social, and governance (ESG) standards, as well as policy advisory to help companies comply with carbon reduction regulations.
This seed round follows a successful pre-seed funding effort last year, where CarbonEthics raised US$220,000 from investors including Spiral Ventures and Ecoxyztem. To date, the startup has partnered with over 300 businesses and institutions, and has completed pre-feasibility studies for carbon projects covering more than 4.2 million hectares of land.
With the latest funding, CarbonEthics is poised to accelerate its impact in the carbon solutions space, further advancing its mission to combat climate change while promoting social and environmental sustainability.
