Norwegian renewable energy company Scatec ASA has signed a 25-year Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with the Egyptian Electricity Transmission Company (EETC) through its project subsidiary, Shadwan Wind Power SAE. The agreement covers a 900-megawatt onshore wind power project to be developed in Ras Shokeir and is denominated in U.S. dollars.

The project marks a significant step in Egypt’s transition toward a more sustainable energy mix. Scatec CEO Terje Pilskog commented, โ€œThis project reinforces Scatecโ€™s position as one of the leading renewable energy companies in Egypt. We are currently advancing four major renewable energy projects in the country, supported by a diverse technology portfolio.โ€

The Ras Shokeir site offers strong onshore wind resources, making it an ideal location for the development. Scatec will begin on-site wind measurements immediately, with completion expected in the first half of 2026. The project will then move into the financing and construction phases.

Egypt has been actively expanding its renewable energy capacity in recent years to reduce reliance on fossil fuels. This wind project represents another key investment by Scatec in the countryโ€™s clean energy future and supports Egyptโ€™s broader sustainability objectives.
