Bologna, April 14, 2025 — The Italian battery industry is under the spotlight today at Battery Day 2025, the first national conference dedicated to the future of batteries in Italy, held at BolognaFiere. Organized by A151 in collaboration with the industry news portal Battery Industry, the event brings together 30 leading researchers, industry executives, and professionals to assess the state of the sector and coordinate a shared response to global competition—particularly from Asia.

In a written message to the conference, Adolfo Urso, Minister of Business and Made in Italy, highlighted the government’s commitment to a non-ideological, sustainable green transition. “Italy is at the forefront in Europe in designing an industrial policy that balances environmental goals with competitiveness and social impact,” said Minister Urso. “Now we need common resources and concrete commitments to rebuild global technological leadership and ensure true strategic autonomy—starting with batteries.”

Minister Urso emphasized the urgency of strengthening domestic battery production, planning raw material supply, enhancing R&D, and creating a robust industrial ecosystem that supports innovation, manufacturing excellence, and job creation. He cited key initiatives from ENEA, Flash Battery, FIAMM, and the expansion of Teverola as promising examples already driving progress.

“International investors are looking closely at Italy, especially the South, to develop energy storage systems that support both industry and the national grid,” Urso added. “By working together, we can build a competitive and autonomous battery production and recycling system that benefits Italy and the EU.”

Battery Day 2025 also marks the kickoff to E-Tech Europe 2025, the fourth edition of the international trade show dedicated to batteries and electric mobility, taking place April 15–16 at BolognaFiere. The event spans 7,000 square meters and features over 150 exhibitors from 14 countries, including Italy, Germany, France, the U.S., China, and India. Organized by A151, the trade show has expanded to include a broader range of sectors and events aimed at connecting the entire electric vehicle and battery production chain.

This year’s program includes 14 conferences and two technical workshops, with around 100 speakers addressing key topics such as heavy vehicle electrification, battery development and recycling, next-gen automotive components, and the roadmap to autonomous mobility.
