PETRONAS, in collaboration with Knowledge Partner CERAWeek by S&P Global, announced the hosting of the inaugural Energy Asia 2023 conference. Themed “Charting Pathways for a Sustainable Asia,” the event will take place from June 26 to 28, 2023, at Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre.

Energy Asia 2023 aims to bring together the world’s leading industry leaders, experts, investors, and policymakers to discuss how Asia can accelerate low carbon pathways and unlock new potentials for the region’s energy sector. With over 2,000 delegates expected to attend, the conference will facilitate fruitful discussions and foster collaboration among key stakeholders.

Distinguished participants will include prominent figures from esteemed organizations such as the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC), International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA), and the International Association of Oil and Gas Producers (IOGP). Additionally, senior officials and industry leaders from multiple sectors and countries will contribute to the rich diversity of perspectives and insights.

The conference will feature a lineup of more than 50 renowned speakers, including HE Arifin Tasrif, Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources of Indonesia; HE Haitham Al-Ghais, Secretary General of OPEC; Dr Daniel Yergin, Vice Chairman of S&P Global; Iman Hill, Chief Executive Officer of IOGP; Dr Naoko Ishii, Professor and Executive Vice President of the University of Tokyo; and Madelena Muhammad, Director of the Sustainability Unit at the Central Bank of Malaysia.

Energy Asia 2023 will be inaugurated by YAB Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim, Prime Minister of Malaysia. Other government representatives, including YB Rafizi Ramli, Minister of Economy of Malaysia, and YB Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad, Minister of Natural Resources, Environment, and Climate Change of Malaysia, will also be in attendance, underscoring the significance of this gathering.
