Sarawak is poised to reinforce its leadership in the global clean energy transition at the upcoming International Energy Week (IEW) 2025, set to take place from July 15 to 17 at the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK). With the theme “From Sarawak to the World: Journey to Clean Energy Leadership,” the event will serve as a premier platform to highlight the state’s advancements in sustainable energy and innovation.
According to Datuk Dr Hazland Abang Hipni, Sarawak’s Deputy Minister for Energy and Environmental Sustainability, the expo and summit will spotlight cutting-edge developments in hydrogen energy, solar power, and carbon capture technologies.
“IEW 2025 aims to establish Sarawak as a global leader in sustainable energy by fostering innovation, attracting strategic investments, and strengthening international collaborations,” he stated in an official announcement on March 3.
Beyond showcasing technological breakthroughs, the event aligns with Sarawak’s post-Covid-19 development strategy, positioning the state as a hub for renewable energy adoption and economic growth. The initiative underscores Sarawak’s commitment to driving sustainable energy policies, reducing carbon footprints, and contributing to Asean’s green energy transformation.
The summit, hosted by Informa Markets Malaysia in collaboration with the Sarawak Energy and Environmental Sustainability Ministry, will be inaugurated by Sarawak Premier Tan Sri Abang Johari Openg. It is expected to draw 6,500 attendees from over 25 countries, with more than 400 companies and industry leaders participating in discussions and exhibitions that will shape the future of clean energy.
Beyond the event, IEW 2025 aspires to drive actionable policy recommendations and forge long-term partnerships, reinforcing Sarawak’s position as a leading force in clean energy innovation within the Asean region and beyond.
