Solarvest Holdings Bhd and Huawei Technologies (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd have announced a strategic collaboration to accelerate the advancement of Malaysia’s digital power and renewable energy (RE) industries.

In a joint statement, the two companies revealed plans to integrate cutting-edge technologies, including smart photovoltaic (PV) inverters and energy storage systems, to foster a more sustainable and energy-efficient future.

Solarvest will lead the initiative, overseeing the Engineering, Procurement, Construction, and Commissioning (EPCC) of renewable energy projects. Huawei Malaysia, meanwhile, will contribute its technological expertise and resources to ensure the success of these initiatives.

Focus Areas of the Collaboration

The partnership will concentrate on three key areas:

  1. Integrating Huawei’s smart PV technologies into Solarvest’s ongoing and future renewable energy projects.
  2. Deploying solar-plus-battery energy storage systems (BESS) to enhance Malaysia’s energy resilience and stability.
  3. Cultivating local expertise in green energy technologies, including training in solar PV systems, battery storage, and electric vehicle (EV) charging solutions.

Huawei Malaysia is set to play a pivotal role in workforce development, providing training aimed at equipping local talent with the skills necessary to support Malaysia’s growing green economy.

Driving Renewable Energy Ambitions

Solarvest’s executive director and group CEO, Davis Chong Chun Shiong, highlighted the importance of advanced technologies in improving the efficiency and stability of major Malaysian renewable energy projects, such as the Large Scale Solar 5 (LSS5) programme, the Corporate Green Power Programme (CGPP), and the Clean Energy Sustainability Strategy (CRESS).

“This partnership is about more than achieving energy targets—it’s an investment in Malaysia’s future. Solarvest remains committed to driving the transition to clean energy, building a skilled green workforce, and bolstering the resilience of our energy infrastructure,” Chong said.

Contributing to Carbon Reduction

Huawei Malaysia’s chief executive officer, Simon Sun, underscored the company’s contribution to Malaysia’s renewable energy sector. He noted that Huawei has already supplied inverters capable of generating 3.9 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity annually—equivalent to offsetting 1.81 million tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions.

“Our collaboration with Solarvest aims to strengthen Malaysia’s leadership in renewable energy and support its vision for a more sustainable future,” Sun added.

By combining Solarvest’s project execution capabilities with Huawei’s technological innovation, the partnership seeks to advance Malaysia’s renewable energy ambitions while fostering a skilled workforce to power the nation’s green economy.
