Sunrise Shares Energy Sdn Bhd, through its subsidiary Sunrise Megabatt Sdn Bhd, has entered into an agreement with Zhejiang Jinko Energy Storage Co Ltd to distribute advanced battery energy storage systems (BESS) across Malaysia, effective immediately.
Jinko Energy, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Jinko Solar Co Ltd, specializes in cutting-edge energy storage solutions and operates across the entire photovoltaic industry chain, with a strong emphasis on integrated research and development, production, and clean energy technologies.
Under the agreement, Sunrise Megabatt will procure and distribute Jinko Energy’s flagship BESS products, including the SunGiga and SunTera series, which are tailored to address the varying energy storage requirements of Malaysian industries.
“This partnership with Jinko Energy marks a significant milestone for Sunrise Megabatt in expanding access to advanced energy storage technologies in Malaysia,” said Matt Tan, Chief Executive Officer of Sunrise Megabatt.
Jinko Solar, the parent company of Jinko Energy, is recognized as a global leader in photovoltaic module manufacturing and energy storage system integration, serving over 4,000 clients in more than 200 countries. The company has consistently topped global module shipment rankings for five consecutive years, with cumulative module shipments surpassing 300 gigawatts by 2024.
Listed on both the Shanghai Stock Exchange, where it holds a market capitalization of 74.7 billion yuan, and the New York Stock Exchange, valued at US$1.26 billion, Jinko Solar remains a key player in the global renewable energy sector.
The partnership arrives at a pivotal moment for Malaysia, following the introduction of the Corporate Renewable Energy Supply Scheme (CRESS) by the government. CRESS is designed to promote corporate access to renewable energy, with energy storage systems playing a crucial role in mitigating the intermittency of green energy sources and ensuring a stable power supply.
This collaboration between Sunrise Megabatt and Jinko Energy is poised to bolster Malaysia’s renewable energy infrastructure, supporting the nation’s transition towards a more sustainable and resilient energy future.
